Created by Canadian artist Ellen Jewett "Creatures From El" is collection of fascinating yet peculiar creatures - morphed flora and fauna into surrealistic mutant species frozen in movement. Almost like captured at the moment we woke up from a dream of captivating and mysterious imagery. It seems like body parts as characters in it's own right mutated into mechanical and bestial interlocking breeds. But, then again... maybe it's how these beasts see themselves? Turtle feels boged down by the weight, like it's a tree growing on it's shell, fast mountain lion feels like birds flying out of his body carrying him through the fastest of runs and desert fox feels elegance of swan wings - as vanity is it's blessing and it's curse... I love contrasts (hence the reference to the name of legendary Guns'N'Roses). Love, when artist takes extremes of any dimension and collides opposites in most unusual and surprising ways. More surprising - the better... Magnus Gjoen took the objects that we usually associate with destruction and harm, and illustrated them with soft feel good imagery of fine art, porcelain patterns and classic paintings. Suddenly the tools of destruction transformed into harmless, decorative nick'nacks we can find in our grandma's fine china cabinet.  (I can completely imagine some sweet old lady personalizing her AK-47 with flowery decoupage). The design collaboration between Andrea Colombo (interested in iconic cars) and Linda Assandri (passionate about Swarovski and glam details) led to the development of the Glamour Beetle Armchair. The duo from ZAC Glamour Design launched a unique approach to furniture, combining Baroque elements and Car Art. In the case of the armchair presented in the photos below, the designers used real Volkswagen Beetle MY1968 wings and an upholstered chair with Swarovski crystals and LED lights. The unconventional furniture piece also comes with solid finishes in in silver leaf or gold leaf (available in real gold 24 kt. / or real silver), produced by a highly qualified Italian craftsmen team. Let your imagination run wild and imagine human body evolution taking a few turns in different direction. British fashion designer Ana Rajcevic created visual narrative of "natural" human form extensions, taking us together through the journey of evolutionary fantasy. Pieces are molded from fiberglass, polyester resin with the idea of acting both: as fashion accessory and stand alone installation art piece. Pretty much it's like you watching your favorite show on TV and somebody cuts the antenna. All this pixelated static fuzz that comes-up on the screen is what you get when you put your 1.2 billion Facebook buddies faces in a zoomed-out mosaic. So, you thought you're special, with all your carefully selected party photos and religiously updated statuses, locations and affiliations? Think again! Love Hurts was created based on an assignment to make an activity book. I thought it would be more interesting to make a sort of activity kit instead. From there, I came up with the concept of Love Hurts: A first aid kit for a broken heart. Initially, I knew that I did not want to make a kit of sadness and wanted to approach the product with a sense of humor. Love Hurts contains all of the essentials for going through a rough breakup such as dark chocolate, vodka, bubble bath soap, a candle with matches, candy hearts, a mix CD, and if all else fails, tissues.
