Superheroes don’t retire. “Aging Superhero” by Andreas Englund
inspiratu.com
Ever wondered what happens to our beloved superheroes when they grow older? Thanks to photo-realistic oil paintings by Sweden based artist Andreas Englund we can have a rare glimpse at the daily life of superhero in his senior years. Series of paintings called "Aging Superhero" focuses on character study through mundane situations superhero finds himself in. We all can relate to joy of playing with the child, frustration of spilling groceries in the parking lot or exhaustion after beating up dozen or two of bad guys and stacking them neatly in the pile. Not to mention those morning hangovers that's getting worse and worse with age. Age can take a hit on your stamina, but really is the spirit inside that counts. Someone once said "your age - is only as important as the size of your shoes - some have 43 some otherwise. What really matters is the number you feel inside"... Images via Andreas Englund [...]

Guns’N’Porcelain – Magnus Gjoen softens the image of destruction
inspiratu.com
I love contrasts (hence the reference to the name of legendary Guns'N'Roses). Love, when artist takes extremes of any dimension and collides opposites in most unusual and surprising ways. More surprising - the better... Magnus Gjoen took the objects that we usually associate with destruction and harm, and illustrated them with soft feel good imagery of fine art, porcelain patterns and classic paintings. Suddenly the tools of destruction transformed into harmless, decorative nick'nacks we can find in our grandma's fine china cabinet.  (I can completely imagine some sweet old lady personalizing her AK-47 with flowery decoupage). Destructive get's a friendly facelift. More of Magnus Gjoen work can be found here. Images by Magnus Gjoen [...]

We've all seen painted on body bikinis, ornaments, illustrations and all kinds of tattoo's but Japanese artist Choo San took art of body painting to completely different level. 3D photo-realistic body artwork is so real and "surreal" at the same time that somehow adds new dimension to the body and for a moment get's you thinking "that zipper must feel painful"... What started as doodling eyeballs on back of her hand developed in to inspiring body art that catches our imagination. Body art by Choo San [...]

Alternate reality situations in paintings by Caleb Brown
inspiratu.com
Some of Caleb's artwork seem to be inspired by the last years TV guilty pleasure "Sharknado", other paintings just depict bizarre "what if it was possible" situations.  Clever and thought provoking. Whether it is flying sharks, giant insects or building size rodents - it might be the future we'll bring upon ourselves if we're not careful. Paintings by Caleb Brown   [...]
